    Screening

A screening test is used to identify in the asymptomatic population, patients who are or may be affected. Secondly, diagnostic tests are proposed to confirm (or not) the presence of the disease sought.

For women with no family risk (genetic mutation or significant family history), or personal risk factors.
In France, screening is offered to all women aged 50 to 74, with a test every two years. Women receive a letter and the test is free.
The examination can be done by the radiologist chosen by the woman from a regularly updated list (the qualified radiologists must meet strict specifications in terms of equipment, technique, performance, etc.).

The screening test combines a clinical examination (with identification of risk factors), a mammogram +/- an ultrasound. Mammograms deemed normal benefit from a second reading. The result is communicated to the woman as well as to her attending physician.

Before age 50 or after age 75.
Performing screening tests depends on your history and your clinical examination. The decision to have a mammogram / ultrasound will be made jointly by your doctor and yourself.
