    Fertility preservation

Fertility-preserving treatment is possible in young patients with cancer with a good prognosis.

This management can only be envisaged in teams trained in the treatment of cervical cancer and the preservation of fertility (www.esgo.org).
A specialist consultation with a fertility preservation team is necessary.
These techniques only concern patients with squamous cell cancer, adenocarcinoma or adenosquamous cancer, measuring less than 2cm in greatest diameter, without lymph node extension. The sentinel lymph node technique is valuable here because it is more sensitive and more precise than conventional dissection.

Conization, trachelectomy (removal of the cervix), radical trachelectomy (removal of the cervix of the parameters and part of the vagina) can be used depending on the characteristics of the cancer. The last two require a trained operator.

When all these parameters are respected, more than 50% of women who want pregnancy obtain it. Survival is equivalent to that of conventional treatment.
